Villagers and visitors alike are sure of a traditional warm welcome at Braughing’s oldest pub, the Brown Bear.
Come and enjoy the friendly atmosphere while warming yourself by our blazing log fires. Then try our excellent selection of well-kept real ales, fine wines and wholesome home-cooked food.
We’re happy to serve food anywhere in the pub.
We love hosting Birthday Parties and other big events. We can organise the music and the food for you, if you want.
Choose where to sit to match your mood :
- The lively bar, with pool table, darts, TV and Nintendo Wii
- The snug lounge, with log fire and comfy chairs
- The 20 seater restaurant with full table service
- The huge garden with kids’ play area & petanque ( boules ) pitch
Braughing’s Lively Local
We make all the highlights of the year with special events : Halloween, New Years Eve, St George’s day : please see our events page for details. Our regular Thursday quiz nights have a growing following in the village.
Our petanque ( boules) pitch is available for use by customers, and we also host team competitions with BBQs.
A Special Place in the Village
Our timber-framed building is the oldest pub in the village, one of the oldest buildings in the village, and a Grade II* listed building. Open fires, exposed timbers and small, cosy rooms mean it’s kept all its traditional charm. Our taller customers appreciate not having to bend down to dodge the beams !
Happy hour Every day £2.50 a Pint from 4pm – 6pm on all draught beers.
